From heritage department store to modern jewel box

An oasis of luxury and beauty in the heart of Montreal’s downtown district, Holt Renfrew Ogilvy’s renewed retail presence makes a statement, pure and simple: Glamourous designs needn’t be ostentatious to turn heads—if anything, they need to embody values more than just price tags.

In a complete transformative update of a 1912 stone edifice and the seven stories of shopping inside, one of Canada’s most enduring department stores has become an enticing cabinet of curiosities that heightens the anticipation of pleasure inside.

Designed to meet today’s standards for sustainability, the project’s interior puts reclaimed wood, LED lighting and renewable materials to work, while behind-the-scenes upgrades of systems culminate in achievements such as a Chanel boutique acquiring LEED certification.
